Abstracts: Shear wall systems are one of the most commonly used lateral load resisting systems in high rise buildings. Present work is carried out to study the effects of lateral loading on multi-storey building by placing shear wall at various alternative locations. Analysis and modeling have been carried out by using Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional. Comparison of these models for different parameters like displacement, storey Drift will be carried out. Performance of shear wall will be observed for various alternative locations for each model of building. Also reference of analysis data for different shapes of building configuration will help the structural engineer to decide location of shear wall for a particular shaped building. Chapter 1 includes the brief introduction to shear wall and lateral load resisting systems. Chapter 2 includes the literature review. Chapter 3 includes the software validation procedure. Chapter 4 includes the methodology adopted for analysis and the work flow to be followed in the software for analysis of a building frame. Chapter 5 includes the comparative study of the building frame and conclusions drafted from the comparative study. References to the study material, codes and website are provided at the end.
