Abstracts: Novel process to adopt the fibers from readily available coir rope ( local name : Kathi ) in specified FMI (Fibre Matrix Index) to prepare COIR FIBRE REINFORCED CONCRETE (CFRC) containing coconut coir; a natural fruit fibre obtained from locally available coir rope to cast durable crack resistant concrete structure. The Fibre Matrix Index of coir is multiplication of aspect ratio (l/d) with proportion of fibre by weight of cement. FMI selected is optimized to yield concrete with better compressive strength compared to PCC as well as having high resistance to cracking. The concrete specimens were tested after curing for different age levels for mechanical properties such as cube compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength and other tests. Tests were also conducted for cement, chemical admixture, coarse aggregate and fine aggregate.
